My volleyball history:

I did not start playing volleyball until after I got out of high school.  A good friend of mine played in college and taught me the game.  I was hooked. I played in local adult volleyball leagues both women’s and co-ed for many years.  I only stopped playing because my own children were so busy playing sports that I didn’t have any extra time.

I have coached volleyball for over 22 years.  I coached girls (and boys for a few years) at the middle school level for 11 years (including my daughter’s team) and high school freshman for 10 years.  I coached 3 years of club volleyball and am IMPACT certified.  I ran volleyball camps for girls in 5th-8th grades, high school and for volunteer coaches.

I was an OHSAA volleyball referee for 12 years.

The rules have changed a lot since I started playing.

My personal history:

I have lived in the Columbus area my entire life.  We currently live in Hilliard.  I have two adult children, a son and a daughter.  I have been married to the same man for almost 30 years.  (Yes, I am really old.)

My son is married and lives in Hilliard.  They are expecting their first child, a girl, in October.  My daughter is married, lives in Hilliard and teaches 2nd grade, also at Prairie Norton.  Their son will celebrate his first birthday, October 30th.  I am having a great time being a grandma!

I have worked at Prairie Norton Elementary for 24 years.  I run the library and love it.  We have students from Kindergarten through 4th grade and we have fun.  I can’t imagine doing anything else.

My favorite thing to do is lay at the beach and read books.  Since I don’t live by a beach, my pool is the next best thing.  I only wish it were warm in Ohio year round.  I also like to walk and ride my bike on the trails and areas around Columbus.  I am addicted to most anything chocolate, especially Graeter’s ice cream. (I can be bribed.)

My advice for dealing with Coach Mitchell, laugh at his jokes, even if you don’t get them……
