Contact Information and Assignments
I distributed the parent assignment sheet and contact sheets via e-mail to
all parents and players last night. If you did not receive these, then please
check to make sure this e-mail is not trapped in your trash or spam filter.
If you still don't have it, e-mail me
damitchell@ieee.org and I'll send it to you
(and correct my e-mail list).
Text To Phones
If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you may receive text messages from
me via the Verizon Wireless Web page; these are intended to be informative for
those cases when items on our schedule change quickly (and/or important
reminders are needed). Verizon supports mass texting for Verizon Wireless
customers.

Schedules
I'm still working on the schedules; publishing updates that affect the next
few days; working on getting all schedules finalized and published.
Picnic
Our Upper School Team picnic is scheduled for Saturday, 23 August 2008, 2:00 -
4:00 at Coach Gordon's house (it's a tradition!). Coach will bring a pot-luck
signup sheet this week.
Equipment
Mizuno equipment arrived this past week; if you have not yet received your
order, expect to on Monday.
Uniforms on Monday
Monday we will meet at Kirk Campus at 5:00 to get our uniforms, then we
will have practice at main campus until 5:00; please coordinate transportation
to main campus from Kirk.
Line Judges, Scorer training, and Parent involvement
Last season we tried volunteers for line judging and scoring; this did not
work well.
We will need to implement assignments, where parents are assigned to line
judging and scoring roles throughout the season; we must expect parents with
assignments to attend to these obligations or coordinate a replacement (with
other parents) if there are scheduling conflicts.
Due to this, we will be offering Line Judge and Scorer training during our
scrimmage on Tuesday, and again on Saturday this week; all parents are
encouraged to attend.
I will be publishing/distributing assignments on or before our
Parent/Player meeting on Wed.
The whole team certainly appreciates the support of our Parents in this
endeavor!

also photographed some players in action shots during our practice Saturday.

Picnic
Upper School Team picnic is scheduled for Saturday, 16 August 2008, 2:00 -

Middle school tryouts begin next week (11 August 2008); begins with Upper
School Team picnic is scheduled for Saturday, 16 August 2008, 2:00 - 4:00 at

Equipment
On Thursday, 7 August 2008 at 11:00, our Mizuno representative (Joe) will
be at CSG with samples of good Mizuno volleyball equipment for the girls to
try-on for size, etc. (In the large gym).
The girls will try equipment on, indicate what they need, and Joe will
order. CSG will issue a purchase order to Joe on our behalf, and then bill
each athletes' CSG account.
I recommend each volleyball athlete ensure they have a pair of good
volleyball court shoes, active ankles, and compression shorts (for practice).
(Upper school and Middle school).
I don't know the lead time for the equipment to arrive, but will get this
answer Thursday. If this arrangement does not work for you, some of the
sporting good stores and web sites are available as well, but availability
this time of year is typically a bit low.

Important camp information:
You must have your paperwork, checks, etc. ready to go on the first day.
Coaches are not supposed to accept any money or paperwork. You should have
signed up through the Summer Programs office; you need to submit all materials
to Jane Rudicel at the Summer Programs office at the Lower School entrance at
Drexel and Broad BEFORE attending the camp.
If you have not done so, then do this on Monday morning [about 12:30 or
earlier].
You need to have submitted medical forms, and registration forms (available
at www.csgsummerprograms.org)

Our pre-season schedule for June has been posted; see it on our page under

We will provide a weight and aerobic training program for
each player, customized to her abilities.
It will be straightforward enough to be easy to follow, but at the same time
ensure you will get into proper physical shape for the season. I will also show
proper technique for the weight movements and other exercises.
